Washer & Dryer Repair

Laundry failures range from drainage and balance problems to heat, airflow and control faults. Pillar lists washing machines plus gas and electric dryers among the appliances it installs, repairs and maintains.

Verified service scope

What Pillar publishes

Washers and gas/electric dryers are named on Pillar's official appliance page.

Appointment eligibility depends on the equipment, job-site address, technician availability and regulated trade scope. A submitted request is not a confirmed appointment until Pillar responds.

Common reasons to call

  • A washer will not fill, drain, spin or complete a cycle
  • The machine leaks, shakes heavily or displays an error
  • A dryer tumbles without heat or takes multiple cycles to dry
  • The dryer stops, smells hot or the vent connection is damaged

What to expect

Prepare for a model-specific diagnosis

Typical diagnostic considerations

These educational examples are not a promise that every visit follows these exact steps. The technician's process depends on the equipment, symptoms, safety conditions and authorized scope.

  1. Confirm model, cycle, error code and when the symptom occurs
  2. Inspect accessible controls, pumps, belts, heating and airflow components
  3. Separate appliance faults from building drain, power, gas or vent problems
  4. Quote repair before work or parts ordering

Before the visit

  • Clean the lint screen before or after every dryer load.
  • Stop using a dryer that smells scorched or becomes unusually hot.
  • Do not overload a washer, and use detergent intended for the machine type.

Safety comes first

The U.S. Fire Administration recommends cleaning lint from the vent pipe periodically and keeping the dryer area free of combustibles. If gas is smelled or a leak is heard, leave immediately without using a phone, operating switches, unplugging equipment or investigating; call 911 or the gas supplier from a safe location. If a carbon-monoxide alarm sounds, get everyone outside immediately, call 911 from fresh air and do not re-enter until emergency responders say it is safe. If there is smoke or fire, get everyone outside and call 911. If water reaches electrical equipment, do not touch the equipment or enter standing water; isolate power only at a dry, safely accessible main disconnect, otherwise call the utility, emergency services or an electrician.

Repair, replace or refer?

A pump, belt, control, heating element or sensor may be repairable. Tub, bearing, cabinet or multiple major failures can change the economics; Pillar says it gives an honest repair-versus-replacement opinion.

Questions customers ask

Washer & Dryer Repair FAQ

Why does my dryer take so long to dry?
Restricted airflow is a common and important possibility, but heating, sensor, control and load issues can also cause long cycles. Stop use if the dryer overheats.
Does Pillar service both gas and electric dryers?
Yes. Both gas and electric dryers are listed on Pillar's official appliance page.
