Refrigerator & Freezer Repair
Temperature loss can become a food-safety problem before it is obvious from how food feels. Pillar lists refrigerators and freezers among the appliances it installs, repairs and maintains.
Verified service scope
What Pillar publishes
Refrigerators and freezers are named on Pillar's appliance service and maintenance pages.
Appointment eligibility depends on the equipment, job-site address, technician availability and regulated trade scope. A submitted request is not a confirmed appointment until Pillar responds.
Common reasons to call
- Fresh-food or freezer temperatures rise
- Water leaks, ice builds up or the defrost cycle appears abnormal
- The compressor, fan or ice maker makes new noise
- The appliance runs continuously or stops cooling intermittently
What to expect
Prepare for a model-specific diagnosis
Typical diagnostic considerations
These educational examples are not a promise that every visit follows these exact steps. The technician's process depends on the equipment, symptoms, safety conditions and authorized scope.
- Record actual temperatures and operating history
- Inspect accessible airflow, fan, control, defrost and water components
- Identify the failed part or additional test needed
- Quote repair and discuss food-safety precautions
Before the visit
- Use an appliance thermometer; FDA guidance is 40°F or below for the refrigerator and 0°F for the freezer.
- Keep doors closed during a cooling failure and move food when safe temperatures cannot be maintained.
- Provide the full model and serial number, usually found inside the cabinet.
Safety comes first
Discard food that has been held at unsafe temperatures according to FDA guidance. If there is smoke or fire, get everyone outside and call 911. If water reaches electrical equipment, do not touch the equipment or enter standing water. For water at electrical equipment, sparking or visible electrical damage, isolate power only at a dry, safely accessible main disconnect; otherwise call the utility, emergency services or an electrician.
Repair, replace or refer?
A thermostat, fan, defrost or water-system fault may be practical to repair. Sealed-system condition, age, parts cost and food-loss risk should be weighed before investing in a major repair.
