Boiler Service & Repair
Hydronic heating problems can involve the boiler, controls, pumps, zones or distribution piping. Pillar's official heating page lists boiler systems, so providing the fuel type, model and symptoms at booking helps the office confirm the right service scope.
Verified service scope
What Pillar publishes
Boiler systems appear in Pillar's published heating-equipment list.
Appointment eligibility depends on the equipment, job-site address, technician availability and regulated trade scope. A submitted request is not a confirmed appointment until Pillar responds.
Common reasons to call
- The boiler will not fire or shuts down before rooms warm
- One zone stays cold while other zones operate
- New banging, gurgling, leaking or pressure changes appear
- The system needs a seasonal safety and operating check
What to expect
Prepare for a model-specific diagnosis
Typical diagnostic considerations
These educational examples are not a promise that every visit follows these exact steps. The technician's process depends on the equipment, symptoms, safety conditions and authorized scope.
- Confirm boiler type, fuel, controls and affected zones
- Inspect accessible safety controls, pumps, venting and visible piping
- Identify whether the issue is within Pillar's service scope
- Quote eligible work or recommend the appropriate specialist when needed
Before the visit
- Do not add water repeatedly to a system without finding why pressure is dropping.
- Keep the boiler area clear and never block combustion-air or vent openings.
- Note which zones fail and photograph any gauge reading or error code before resetting controls.
Safety comes first
If gas is smelled or a leak is heard, leave immediately without using a phone, operating switches, unplugging equipment or investigating; call 911 or the gas supplier from a safe location. If a carbon-monoxide alarm sounds, get everyone outside immediately, call 911 from fresh air and do not re-enter until emergency responders say it is safe. If there is smoke or fire, get everyone outside and call 911. If water reaches electrical equipment, do not touch the equipment or enter standing water; isolate power only at a dry, safely accessible main disconnect, otherwise call the utility, emergency services or an electrician.
Repair, replace or refer?
Boiler repairs are system-specific. Parts availability, leak location, heat-exchanger condition, venting and overall system age all affect whether repair is practical. Service scope should be confirmed before dispatch.
